"Flatt" Out of Time
In 2013, I was a sophomore in high school when I lost one of my dear friends to suicide. Our small town of Fairfield, Texas was turned upside down. However, Jonny's family was determined to leave a legacy with his life. In 2015, Jonny's family partnered with the Jason Foundation to get the Jason Flatt Act passed in Texas. In April of that year, I had the honor of traveling with Jonny's family and the Jason Foundation and testifying on behalf of the act. We were so pleased when the act was passed out of the education committee that night!
Since 2015, I have been feverously advocating for teen suicide prevention. I have partnered with the Jason Foundation to create a college suicide training program, titled "Flatt" Out of Time, that can be implemented and taught in student organizations and greek-life. As Miss Colleyville, it is my honor to advocate for this organization and bring awareness to teen suicide prevention. I strongly believe that it is crucial to get the Jason Flatt Act passed in every state in America.
